Our Services
Proton Moving Company is a licensed household-goods moving company based in Pasadena, California, holding a California PUC Cal-T permit for local moves and interstate US DOT and MC authority for long-distance hauls. We provide local moving, long-distance moving, residential and apartment moving, full packing, short-term storage, and specialty moving such as pianos and gun safes, all performed with our own trucks and our own W-2 crew — never a subcontractor or a broker standing between you and the job. Once you request a quote or lock in a move date with us, the terms spelled out below apply to that job.
Estimates and Pricing
Local moves are typically quoted as a flat, written rate based on your home’s size and what is moving; jobs that do not suit a flat rate, such as labor-only loading or unloading, are billed hourly at the rate quoted in advance, subject to a 2-hour minimum. For a long-distance job, weight, mileage, and whatever extra services you ask for set the quote, and that number is put in writing ahead of your move date. If your inventory or scope changes materially after the estimate is given, we will tell you before we proceed, not after the truck is loaded.
Payment Terms
Payment is due when your move is complete, unless we have agreed to different terms in writing in advance — for example, a deposit to hold a long-distance date or a storage reservation. We accept the payment methods disclosed to you at booking. Balances left unpaid after a completed move may carry late fees, and for storage customers, a lien on stored goods to the extent permitted under California law.
Cancellations and Rescheduling
You can cancel or reschedule by contacting our office directly. Give us reasonable notice on a cancellation or reschedule and there’s no charge for it. Cancellations made with very little notice, after we have already blocked off a crew and truck for your date, may be subject to a cancellation charge disclosed to you at booking.
Liability and Valuation Coverage
Every move we perform carries $1M in cargo coverage. Federal regulations additionally require us to offer two levels of valuation coverage for your household goods: Released Value Protection, provided at no extra cost, which limits our liability to $0.60 per pound per article; and Full Value Protection, an optional upgrade priced at booking that covers loss or damage closer to the replacement value of your belongings. Your coverage choice gets documented in writing ahead of the move; federal rule sets Released Value Protection as the default if you don’t pick one.
Claims
Notice something missing or damaged after your move? Call our office the moment you catch it. Federal household-goods moving regulations give you up to nine months from your delivery date to file a written claim, and we will work toward a resolution based on the valuation coverage selected for your move.
Limitations
We are not responsible for damage to items packed by the customer rather than our crew, unless our crew’s handling caused it, nor for undisclosed items of extraordinary value such as cash, jewelry, or important documents — we recommend transporting these yourself. Weather, a Santa Ana-driven road closure, or other conditions genuinely outside our control can delay a move without it being on us, though we’ll flag any delay the moment we know about it.
Governing Law
California law governs these terms, full stop, regardless of any conflict-of-law rule that might otherwise point elsewhere. Any dispute arising from services provided by Proton Moving Company will be handled in the courts of Los Angeles County, California.
